Sri Lanka To Offer 3,000 Acres For Tourism Investment

COLOMBO, Jun 22 (NNN-XINHUA) – The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), has outlined its process to offer approximately 3,000 acres of SLTDA-owned lands across the country, to tourism investors.

During a media briefing, jointly held by the SLTDA and the Ministry of Tourism on Friday, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ruwan Ranasinghe, said, the initiative aims to streamline investment and foster sustainable growth in the country’s tourism sector, adding that, investment opportunities range from star-class hotels, eco-resorts, wellness retreats, boutiques, adventure lodges, and so on.

SLTDA Chairman, Buddhika Hewawasam, said that, the selected investors will be provided with a stipulated development plan and a strict time plan, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting investors by streamlining the clearance process.

Tourism is one of Sri Lanka’s main sources of foreign revenue. The country earned approximately 3.17 billion U.S. dollars from tourism last year.– NNN-XINHUA
