SYDNEY, Jun 14 (NNN-AAP) – A woman has died and a man has been hospitalised, after a house fire last night, in Sydney, in Australia’s state of New South Wales (NSW).
The NSW Police said in a statement today that, emergency services were deployed to the fire at a terrace house in Petersham, in Sydney’s inner-west, at about 11:50 p.m. local time, last night.
Fire and rescue crews worked to extinguish the fire while police evacuated neighbouring homes.
The fire was brought under control and a body, believed to be that of an 82-year-old woman, was located inside the building.
A second occupant, a 57-year-old man, was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics, for smoke inhalation, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Officers established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire.– NNN-AAP
