Myanmar Police Seized Over 5.7 Million Stimulant Tablets In Major Drug Bust

YANGON, Jun 13 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar police seized over 5.7 million stimulant tablets, in a series of operations targeting a major drug trafficking network, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) said, yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint anti-narcotic task force intercepted two vehicles, near a checkpoint on the Pyay-Aunglan road, on Jun 4. Police arrested four suspects and seized 500,000 stimulant tablets being transferred between vehicles, the report said.

Following the initial arrest, authorities searched a suspect’s rented house in Pyay town of Bago region, where they discovered an additional 4.29 million stimulant tablets, the report said.

Two more suspects were arrested in Mingaladon township, Yangon region, on Jun 7, with one million stimulant tablets found in their possession, the report said.

The suspects have been charged under the country’s drug laws, and further investigations are ongoing, the report added.– NNN-MNA
