Thailand Holds Travel Trade Show, Eyeing High-Value Experiences, Sustainability

CHIANG MAI, Jun 6 (NNN-TNA) – Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2025, an international tourism trade event, is taking place in the northern resort city of Chiang Mai, with a focus on high-value experiences, rooted in culture, wellness, and sustainability.

The annual B2B (Business-to-Business) trade show, launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on Wednesday, brought together 406 buyers from home and leading overseas markets, including China, India, and Britain, to explore tourism product development and local heritage.

The event showcased 450 Thai tourism operators from both well-established and emerging destinations, offering a diverse range of services, comprising accommodations, health and wellness experiences, attractions, travel solutions, and transportation.

In an opening ceremony address, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, said, the event marks a new chapter for Thai tourism, serving as a platform for sustainable innovation, a global marketplace for local businesses, and a vibrant reflection of Thailand’s rich cultural and creative landscape.

Sorawong emphasised the event’s role in optimising the tourism supply chain by enhancing service standards and promoting authentic experiences, reaffirming the country’s strategic vision for inclusive, sustainable tourism growth.

This year’s event sparks momentum across the tourism ecosystem, said TAT Governor, Thapanee Kiatphaibool. It fosters growth by generating revenue, strengthening connections, and equipping Thai SMEs with essential skills and international visibility, to succeed in both regional and global markets.

To strengthen regional collaboration, the TAT extended invitations to tourism organisations in the Greater Mekong Subregion, Southeast Asia, and selected provinces in China, fostering expanded strategic tourism partnerships throughout the region.

The TAT expects the three-day event to facilitate over 13,000 scheduled business appointments and generate over 4.29 billion baht (about 131.87 million U.S. dollars) in tourism revenue.

The trade fair also aims to provide local businesses with next-generation solutions, to compete globally through innovation and responsible tourism.

Thailand has welcomed over 14.45 million foreign visitors, so far, this year, with top source markets including China, Malaysia, India, Russia, and South Korea.– NNN-TNA
