PHNOM PENH, Jun 4 (NNN-AKP) – The Dubai-based Emirates, launched its regular flights to north-west Cambodia’s Siem Reap province via Bangkok, said its press release, today.
A Boeing 777-300ER landed at the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport last night, and was greeted by a traditional water salute, the press release said, adding that, the airline operates three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
“With the UAE being an increasingly strategic market for Cambodia, the expansion of Emirates’ services supports both tourism and trade,” said Mao Havannall, minister in charge of Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.
“This new route further deepens our bilateral ties and promotes mutual economic growth,” he added.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ executive vice president, said that, a year ago, the airline resumed operations to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, and now, it has added another route to Siem Reap province, which is home to the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park.
“We’re confident that this new route will further strengthen tourism flows and commercial ties between Cambodia and the rest of the world, particularly with the UAE,” he said.– NNN-AKP
