Cuba to host 1st International Workshop on Education for Youth and Adults

HAVANA, June 1 (NNN-ACN) — The 1st International Workshop on Education for Youth and Adults (EDJA 2025 by its Spanish acronym) was announced at a press conference in order to deepen the actions carried out in the academic preparation of people.

This workshop will take place June 9-11 at the Havana Convention Center.

Maura Tomasen Leon, National Director of Youth and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education (MINED), said that this event aims to strengthen the learning of the target age groups taking into account the policies of inclusion and international practices.

Tomasen Leon pointed out that this meeting will be held in person with the participation of delegates from different regions of the country and that to date six nations have confirmed their attendance.

The specialist expressed that the preparation of this space has as its main antecedent the historical literacy campaign that was carried out at the beginning of the Revolution.

For her part, Aida Terrero Lafita, researcher of the Cuban Central Institute of Pedagogical Sciences, said that EDJA 2025 will promote the exchange of knowledge through lectures, debates and forums related to sex education.

The 1st International Workshop on Education for Youth and Adults will pay tribute to Jaime Canfux Gutierrez and Armando Hart Davalos for being two key pillars of Cuban education. — NNN-ACN
