Malaysia’s Capital A Returns To Profitability In Q1

KUALA LUMPUR, Jun 1 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia’s Capital A, the owner of budget airline AirAsia, has returned to profitability in the first quarter of 2025.

The firm said in a statement on Friday that, the group posted a profit after tax of 194 million ringgit (45.58 million U.S. dollars), a turnaround from a loss of 244 million ringgit a year ago.

The firm recorded 5.3 billion ringgit in revenue in the first quarter.

“I’m confident 2025 will be a defining year for Capital A. We’ve set ambitious but realistic internal targets for 2025, and I’m pleased to say, we remain on track,” said Capital A’s chief executive officer, Tony Fernandes.

With board approval secured, he said, Capital A will now actively explore a dual listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, to supercharge its next growth chapter and broaden access to global capital markets.– NNN-BERNAMA
