MANILA, May 30 (NNN-PNA) – The Philippines’ total external trade in goods, decreased by two percent in April this year, to 16.99 billion U.S. dollars, from 17.34 billion dollars in Apr, last year, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said, today.
Of the total external trade in Apr this year, the agency said, 60.3 percent were imported goods, while the remaining 39.7 percent were exported goods.
The agency said, the balance of trade in goods or the difference between export and import value in Apr this year, amounted to 3.49 billion dollars, indicating a trade deficit with an annual reduction of 26.1 percent.
China was the Philippines’ largest supplier of imported goods, valued at 3.01 billion dollars or 29.4 percent of the country’s total imports in Apr this year.
The United States contributed the highest export value in Apr, with 1.03 billion dollars, or 15.2 percent of the total exports.– NNN-PNA
