ASTANA, May 29 (NNN-KTA) – Trade between Kazakhstan and France increased by 31 percent year on year, to reach a record 5.5 billion U.S. dollars last year, the Kazakh government announced yesterday, during the Kazakhstan-France Investment Forum held in Astana.
French investment in Kazakhstan has reached nearly 20 billion dollars, with more than 200 French-affiliated companies currently operating in the country.
“Cooperation with France is one of the top priorities of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy, and an integral part of our partnership with the European Union. Our countries enjoy a strong and multifaceted relationship, with active intergovernmental and parliamentary dialogue, and growing trade and investment ties,” Kazakh Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, said at the forum.
Several bilateral agreements are expected to be signed following the event, covering areas such as, energy, transportation, healthcare and water resource management.– NNN-KTA
