EU To Lift Economic Sanctions On Syria: Top Diplomat

BRUSSELS, May 22 (NNN-XINHUA) – The European Union (EU), agreed on Tuesday, to lift its economic sanctions on Syria, following a meeting of the bloc’s foreign ministers, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas announced, on the social media platform X.

“Today (yesterday), we took the decision to lift our economic sanctions on Syria,” she wrote. “We want to help the Syrian people rebuild a new, inclusive and peaceful Syria.”

The EU’s decision comes, after U.S. President, Donald Trump, announced last week that, he would order the removal of U.S. sanctions on Syria.– NNN-XINHUA
