JAKARTA, May 20 (NNN-ANTARA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Trade, plans to increase exports of food, beverages, and agricultural products to Asian markets, as part of its efforts to meet the national export target, a minister said yesterday.
Indonesian Trade Minister, Budi Santoso, stated that, Asian markets, such as China’s Taiwan, China’s Hong Kong, and other regional countries with significant Indonesian diaspora populations, are easily accessible.
“Those regions are the easiest for us to reach. Asian countries and regions have markets that allow our food and beverage products, as well as, agricultural goods, to enter,” Santoso said, during a press conference at his office.
To achieve this goal, the minister said, the government would intensify efforts to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which play a key role in producing these goods.
According to Santoso, Indonesia aims to increase overall exports by 7.1 percent this year, with most of the growth expected from non-oil and gas sectors.– NNN-ANTARA
