Louisiana State Police transported three recaptured jail escapees to a ‘secure state correctional facility’ outside New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (Louisiana, US), May 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The search for seven escaped inmates in New Orleans has entered its second day after a total of 10 inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish Jail early Friday.

Three of the 10 have been captured.

Louisiana State Police on Saturday shared photographs of three captured Orleans Parish jail escapees being taken out of the city by helicopter.

Kendell Myles, Robert Moody and Dkenan Dennis were the first of three escapees from the parish jail to be recaptured after their escape early Friday morning from the Orleans Justice Center complex.

The LSP did not disclose where it was taking the recaptured inmates, saying only that its air support and SWAT divisions coordinated to “safely transport the three individuals to a secure state correctional facility outside the area.”

A source said the recaptured inmates were being taken to the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.

The agency said the search remains ongoing for the other seven escapees still at large and urged anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact Crimestoppers.

Meanwhile, the Orleans Parish Justice Center said it has suspended three employees after the 10 inmates escaped. It is unclear what roles the employees played in the escape; however, Sheriff Susan Hutson did say it was believed the escaped inmates received help from someone inside the jail. — NNN-AGENCIES
