NAIROBI, May 8 (NNN-KBC) — Kenya has reaffirmed commitment to deepening strategic health partnerships and enhancing ongoing U.S. foreign assistance in the health sector.
Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, welcomed continued partnership through the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), which supports health system strengthening, disease surveillance, and emergency response.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key areas such as health workforce development, digital health and information systems, non-communicable diseases, mental health, and the climate-health nexus all central to Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
Duale lauded the United States for its longstanding support through initiatives such as the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), USAID, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which have played a pivotal role in Kenya’s fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
Similarly, he reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in all joint health initiatives.
On its part, the U.S. expressed readiness to align its support with Kenya’s health strategies to enhance the country’s health systems.
