COLOMBO, May 1 (NNN-XINHUA) – Senior Sri Lankan officials, yesterday held a preliminary discussion, on launching a 1,000-acre forest plantation project, in collaboration with the private sector, under the Clean Sri Lanka programme, said the President’s Media Division (PMD).
The discussion focused on resolving technical issues related to the project, and addressing key matters required for the release of the land, the PMD said in a statement.
The programme aims to safeguard the country’s biodiversity, forest cover and natural ecosystems, while also reinforcing the shared responsibility of the public, government and private sector in environmental conservation, the PMD said.
Sri Lankan President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in Jan, inaugurated the Clean Sri Lanka national programme, which aims to create a morally and environmentally sustainable nation.– NNN-XINHUA
