Bangladesh’s First Renewable Energy Festival Kicked Off

DHAKA, Apr 24 (NNN-BSS) – The Renewable Energy Fest 2025, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, was inaugurated here yesterday, aiming to chart a roadmap for a just and green energy transition.

The two-day festival is jointly organised by ActionAid Bangladesh, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and the Just Energy Transition Network, Bangladesh.

The festival began with the unveiling of a symbolic sculpture by distinguished guests, followed by visits to the Innovation and Technology Fair, where local innovators and companies showcased their renewable energy products and solutions.

In the opening session titled: “The Energy Awakening: Justice, Innovation, and Power to the People,” speakers reaffirmed national goals to achieve 15 percent renewable energy by 2030, and 100 percent by 2050, emphasising the need for inclusive and finance-friendly policies to enable equitable energy transition.

The festival continues with more dialogues and a special “Power Pitch” session, connecting innovators with investors, concluding with an awards ceremony recognising contributions to the renewable energy sector.– NNN-BSS
