NEW DELHI, Apr 23 (NNN-PTI) – A trainee pilot was killed yesterday, when a trainer aircraft he was flying crashed in the western Indian state of Gujarat, police said.
The training aircraft, belonging to a private aviation academy, crashed in a residential area on Giria road of Amreli town, about 274 km south-west of Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat.
The aircraft, from the private Legendary Flying Institute, went down during a training session, resulting in the death of the trainee pilot, a police officer said.
Immediately after the accident, police and firefighters rushed to the spot to douse the flames that engulfed the aircraft.
The aircraft crashed into a tree and exploded on the ground, triggering panic in and around the neighbourhood.
Police registered a case and ordered an investigation into the crash.– NNN-PTI
