Iran Launches New International Airport Terminal

TEHRAN, Iran, June 20 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran has launched the Salam Terminal, to boost Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) by 80 percent, Eghtesadonline daily news website reported.

The new terminal, with the capacity of transporting five million passengers per year, was officially inaugurated in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani.

The Iranian Roads Minister, Mohammad Eslami, said that, international flights will start operating from Salam Terminal as of June 22.

Completely developed by domestic engineers, Salam Terminal is said to be the country’s first “smart” airport facility, using state-of-the-art design and technology.

Currently, Iran’s domestic routes are handled at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport. But, Tehran plans for the operation of domestic flights at Terminal one of IKA.
