ISLAMABAD, Feb 9 (NNN-APP) – Two policemen were killed, and another injured, in a terrorist attack on a check post in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, yesterday, police sources confirmed.
The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. local time (2230 GMT Friday), when the unidentified militants opened fire on the police post, in the Bannu district, using small and heavy weapons, the sources said.
Police personnel retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire that continued for two hours, the sources added.
The injured person and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area, to track down the attackers.
