Palestinians Say U.S. Efforts Will Not Succeed

RAMALLAH, Palestine, June 19 (NNN-WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson of Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said that, the U.S. administration’s efforts “will not get anywhere,” vowing to thwart all the “conspiracies against the Palestinian cause.”

He said, “Any meeting, whether in Bahrain or elsewhere, without the legitimate Palestinian endorsement, proves that Washington cannot, and will not succeed on its own in achieving anything.”

Abu Rudeineh said, the president and the Palestinian leadership’s firm position on Jerusalem, the prisoners and the Palestinian identity, will foil any plot by the United States.

His statements came against the backdrop of the upcoming U.S.-led economic workshop in Bahrain.

A joint statement, issued by the Bahraini and U.S. governments, on May 19, said that, Bahrain will host the “Peace to Prosperity” economic workshop in Manama, on June 25-26, which will bring together finance ministers, to meet with business people.

Palestinians immediately opposed the idea of holding the conference and said, they were not even consulted on it. Officials have been urging world governments to boycott the conference, saying, it is part of the U.S. President, Donald Trump’s Middle East peace ideas, better known as the “Deal of the Century.”

The Palestinian Authority declared, it boycotted the American administration since it recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in Dec, 2017, and moved its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, last May.– NNN-WAFA
