Three Rockets Land On Iraqi Military Base Housing U.S. Troops

BAGHDAD, Iraq, June 18 (NNN-NINA) – Three Katyusha rockets landed on a military base just north of Baghdad, where U.S. trainers are housed, the Iraqi military said.

The three rockets landed on Monday evening, on Camp Taji, a military base some 20 km north of the Iraqi capital, a media office affiliated with the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said.

The huge military installation is located in a rural area and houses U.S. troops tasked with training the Iraqi forces.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack came just days after two oil tankers were hit in the Gulf of Oman, off the Iranian coast, amid rising tensions in the Middle East between the United States and Iran.

Some Gulf Arab countries and the United States believe Iran was behind the attacks, while Iran has denied all such allegations.– NNN-NINA
