10 Killed In Car Crash In SW Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, June 9 (NNN-AKP) – At least 10 people were killed and four others injured, in a car crash in Southwestern Cambodia’s Kampong Speu province, on Saturday evening, a senior police official said.

The tragic accident occurred on National Road No. 4, when a speeding Highlander overtook a car and crashed into a tourist mini-bus, and then continued to hit another cargo truck before bursting into flames, said Tab Lon, deputy police chief of Kampong Speu province.

“Ten people, five in the Highlander and five others in the tourist van, were confirmed dead in the crash, as four others were injured,” he said.

The dead persons’ identities were not known yet, as some bodies were badly burned.

Death toll from road traffic accidents remains high in Cambodia. In 2018, a total of 1,761 people were killed and 4,771 others injured, in road crashes across the country, according to a government report.– NNN-AKP
