Jordan Increases Gas Production With The Drilling Of New Well

AMMAN, Jordan, June 4 (NNN-PETRA) – Production of natural gas in the Al Risha gas field increased, after the drilling of a new well, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, on Monday.

The new well has daily production capacity of seven million cubic feet (mcf) of natural gas, increasing the production of the Risha Field to 16 mcf, which accounts for five percent of the kingdom’s daily needs of gas of around 330 mcf.

The discovery of the well was a result of “the efforts and expertise of Jordanian employees, working at the National Petroleum Company (NPC),” Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, said in a statement.

Maher Hijazin, NPC’s chairman, said in the statement that, the company is currently preparing for the digging of another new well soon.

The Natural Resources Authority has drilled 45 wells, since the NPC’s establishment in 1995, of which 15 are operational.– NNN-PETRA
