Eight Naxals, Policeman Killed In Gunfight In India’s Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI, Jun 16 (NNN-PTI) – At least eight rebel Naxals and a policeman were killed, and two others wounded yesterday, in a gunfight in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.

The gunfight between Naxals and joint contingents of paramilitary and police forces, broke out inside Abujhmarh forest area of Narayanpur district, about 192 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.

According to police, the joint contingents earlier cordoned off the area, on specific intelligence information, suggesting the presence of Naxals.– NNN-PTI
