Saudi Arabia Downs Drone Targeting Airport In Jazan

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, May 27 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday, that, it shot down a bomb-laden drone, launched by the Houthis, targeting King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jazan, Al Arabiya TV reported.

“The drone was destroyed early in the morning of Sunday,” said Turki Al Maliki, spokesperson of the Saudi-led coalition, fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen.

He accused Houthis of deliberately targeting dignitaries, civilians and civil facilities systematically, demanding the Iran-backed militias to “stop their attacks, otherwise there will be a strong response.”

Saudi Arabia reported recently that, it has intercepted drones mainly targeting border cities, in an escalation by the Houthis, after months without attacks.

The kingdom has been leading the war in Yemen against the militias, for the past four years, in support of the legitimate government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.– NNN-SPA
