Peru: President reaffirms Government’s commitment to fight against narcoterrorism

CALLAO (Peru), April 17 (NNN-ANDINA) — President Dina Boluarte reaffirmed the PeruvianGovernment’s commitment to confront the scourge of narcoterrorism and achieve pacification in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).

Boluarte participated in the posthumous tribute ceremony for Peruvian Navy’s Technician Third Class, Edgar Tiburcio Espinoza, who died recently fighting against terrorist remnants in joint operations in the VRAEM.

The Head of State reaffirmed support for law enforcement agents who have been operating in said area since April 15, with the aim of neutralizing the camps of the main force of the terrorist organization Shining Path.

Today’s event took place at Air Group No. 8 in Callao region.

In his memory, the Government reaffirms its commitment to the fight against narcoterrorism. Every agent of the armed forces who is today in the combat zone in the VRAEM has our entire support. Terrorism never again,” Boluarte emphasized.

“With your courage, commitment, and professionalism, we will strengthen peace in the VRAEM. United, firm, and dignified, we will win the battle against terror. For the honor and love of our country, for Technician Tiburcio and for Peru, we will never give up not a step back,” she added.

She called for national unity to combat terrorist remnants. 

“From here, I call for the broadest unity of all Peruvians to confront the remnants of terrorism, enemies of our homeland,” she said.

Furthermore, Boluarte expressed condolences and solidarity with the relatives of Tiburcio, highlighting his service to the nation for 13 years, working in the Special Operations Force Command, among other important units. — NNN-ANDINA
