Head-On Collision In Central Bangladesh Killed 13

DHAKA, Apr 16 (NNN-BSS) – A head-on collision between a bus and a pickup truck, killed 13 people in central Bangladesh today, a senior police official said.

The fatal road accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT), in Bangladesh’s central Faridpur district, some 101 km away from the capital, Dhaka, Mohammad Morshed Alam, the district’s police chief, said.

“The bus collided with the pickup truck coming from the opposite direction, killing 11 people on the spot,” he said, adding that, two were declared dead after being rushed to hospital.

All the victims were passengers of the pickup truck, he added.

The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, at least 122 people were killed and 195 others injured, in road crashes between Apr 8 and 14, when Bangladesh celebrated the Eid festival and Bengali New Year.– NNN-BSS
