One Dead, Six Injured After Overpass Collapsed In Russia’s Smolensk

MOSCOW, Apr 9 (NNN-TASS) – One person was killed and six others were injured, after an overpass in Russia’s Smolensk region, collapsed yesterday, local media reported.

The Paninsky Road overpass, collapsed onto a section of railway tracks, near the Vyazma station, in the town of Vyazma. A truck and a car were on the bridge at the time of the incident, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Five of the wounded people are in serious or moderate condition, suffering multiple injuries, according to the local health department.

No trains were present on the railway tracks when the collapse happened, but train traffic was suspended along this segment, Moscow Railway said on Telegram.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the incident.– NNN-TASS
