Mongolia Receives Over 100,000 Foreign Tourists In Q1

ULAN BATOR, Apr 5 (NNN-APA) – Mongolia received 100,170 foreign tourists in the first quarter of this year, the country’s Ministry of Environment and Tourism said, yesterday.

Currently, Mongolia’s economy primarily depends on its export-oriented mining sector. The government has been taking measures to promote tourism, which is seen as a viable way to diversify its economy.

The country has declared 2023-2025 as “Years to Visit Mongolia,” targeting at least one million foreign tourists per year.

Last year, Mongolia received over 650,000 foreign tourists and earned 1.2 billion U.S. dollars from the tourism sector, hitting an all-time high.– NNN-APA
