Vietnamese Durian’s Market Share, Accounts For 31.8 Percent In China

HANOI, Apr 4 (NNN-VNA) – The market share of Vietnamese durian in China has reached 31.8 percent, only behind Thailand (68 percent), Vietnam’s Plant Protection Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, was cited as saying.

If Vietnam makes good use of opportunities, advantages and organise professional production, constantly improve techniques and quality, the country’s durian market share can surpass Thailand’s and dominate the Chinese market, said the department.

Vietnam now has 708 durian growing areas, and 168 packing facilities, with transaction codes to export its products to China, which are issued by the General Administration of Customs of China.

Vietnam’s total durian growing area has reached 112,000 hectare, with an annual output of 863,000 tonnes.

Vietnam’s durian was mainly exported to China with 595,000 tonnes in quantity last year, accounting for 98.6 percent of the country’s total export of this product group.– NNN-VNA
