Russia To Host Largest Halal Fair During Russia-Islamic World KazanForum 2024 In May

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) — Russia will host the International Trade Fair Kazan Halal Market, the largest trading platform for world Muslim community, as part of the annual International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” on May 14 to 19.

The KazanForum secretariat in a statement said the fair and forum will bring together representatives of all countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

“In 2023, visitors could familiarise themselves with products from Iran, Afghanistan, Senegal and Turkey. It is expected that this year companies from Indonesia and Malaysia will show additional interest in the fair and in entering the growing Russian halal market,” the statement added.

The secretariat said in 2024, the Kazan Halal Market International Trade Fair will be held from May 14 to 19  in the Kazan Agro-Industrial Park.

Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their products on a trade area spanning 5,000 square meters. The participation fee is US$210 for an equipped trading place with a showcase. Specialisation products  for the fair will be  food, wholesale and retail trade, consumer goods.

At Kazan Halal Market, visitors can find clothes, accessories, cosmetics, and other consumer goods with Halal certification from leading manufacturing companies of the Islamic world.

The statement said in 2023 a total of 400 exhibitors took part in Kazan Halal Market presenting 4,500 products. The fair became a place of attraction for Halal connoisseurs and a convenient platform for family shopping.

The fair was visited by more than 40,000 guests, including official delegations from Malaysia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Bahrain, Chad, Senegal, Iran, Turkey, Gabon; representatives of foreign media; participants of the All-Russian Forum of Tatar religious figures; young diplomats of the OIC countries; deputies of the State Duma of  Russia and members of regional governments in Russia.

Secretary General of the OIC, Hussein Ibrahim Taha in his address to the participants of KazanForum-2023 highlighted the significant growth in trade turnover between Russia and OIC states in recent years.

In 2021, it totalled US$113.3 billion, a 43.2 per cent increase compared to 2017. Hussein emphasised the emergence of new opportunities facilitated by the halal market and the mutual supply of products adhering to Islamic norms. 

Hussein also said the global halal market is growing very fast and is now estimated at US$2.6 trillion. He also expressed his hope that the work of the KazanForum will contribute to the further development of the halal industry in Russia and trade.

Hussein projected that by 2028, the halal market is anticipated to exceed US$11 trillion in value, highlighting its immense potential for growth and development.
