ASEAN Foreign Ministers Condemn Terror Attack In Moscow

JAKARTA, March 26 (Bernama) —  The ASEAN foreign ministers have condemned in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow, Russia, on March 22, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and multiple casualties, including children.

In a statement issued here Tuesday they said ASEAN fully supports the efforts of the Russian government to address the situation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The foreign ministers also emphasised the urgent need for a united international effort to comprehensively and effectively eliminate the scourge of terrorism.

“ASEAN stands in solidarity with the people and government of the Russian Federation during this difficult time,” they said.

They also reaffirmed their strong commitment to working closely with the international community in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, consistent with the principles outlined in the relevant international conventions and protocols, including the ASEAN Charter.

“ASEAN extends its deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, the people, and the Government of the Russian Federation, and wishes the injured a quick recovery,” they said.

The devastating terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall on Friday claimed the lives of at least 133 individuals and left over 140 others injured.
