Cambodia Celebrated 2nd National Day Of Science, Technology, Innovation

PHNOM PENH, Mac 25 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia, yesterday, marked the second National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), aiming at taking maximum advantage of these sectors for socioeconomic development.

Speaking at the event, Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Manet, said, STI sectors are the key foundation for the development of the digital economy and society.

“This event will inspire people to love science, technology and innovation,” he said. “STI sectors play a crucial role in supporting the government’s policies, towards achieving Cambodia’s visions of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030, and a high-income nation by 2050.”

Regarding the free trade agreements (FTAs) Cambodia has with China, South Korea, and the UAE, as well as, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the prime minister said, the development of STI would help the kingdom reap maximum benefits from these FTAs.

Under the theme of “Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Go STI,” the event, organised by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, was held at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.

Hem Vanndy, minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, said, the STI day would help further boost Cambodia’s economic growth and foster innovation.

“It will help accelerate the greater adoption of STI among SMEs,” he said.

The celebration was followed by a three-day STI exhibition and a forum.– NNN-AKP
