Afghanistan’s Central Bank To Sell 15 Million USD To Keep Local Currency Stable

KABUL, Mac 23 (NNN-ANA) – Afghanistan’s central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), will sell 15 million U.S. dollars by auction today, in a bid to stabilise the exchange rate of the national currency, afghani, the bank said in a statement.

The afghani has been tumbling against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar, over the past several months. The exchange rate of 1 U.S. dollar was 72.1 afghanis last week, while it was 71.3 afghanis in local money-changing markets on Thursday.

The DAB has injected millions of U.S. dollars into the country’s money-exchanging market, over the past months, to prevent the fall of the afghani against foreign currencies.– NNN-ANA
