ZANZIBAR, March 21 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has launched the first round of allocation of blocks for oil and gas exploration and extraction companies in offshore areas of Zanzibar.
Speaking at the event held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in the Airport area, Mwinyi stated that the Isles Government welcomes all oil and gas exploration and extraction companies to participate in this round.
He assured investors in the sector that the Government is ready to ensure a conducive investment environment for the benefit of all.
President Mwinyi emphasized the Government’s commitment to strengthening the blue economy with the aim of accelerating the country’s development and ensuring sustainable access to reliable sources of energy.
He highlighted the numerous opportunities in the blue economy for advancing economic development plans aimed at reducing poverty and creating employment opportunities in the country.
