Seven Dead In Traffic Accident In Nepal

KATHMANDU, Mac 6 (NNN-XINHUA) – Seven people were killed and 30 others injured, this morning, when an overcrowded bus veered off a highway in Nepal’s Dhading district.

The bus, en route to Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, plunged into the Trishuli River. The rescue team recovered five bodies, and two people succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to hospital for treatment, according to local police.

“The bus fell into the river with at least 48 people on board,” Gautam KC, chief of the district police, said. “The driver blamed poor road conditions for the accident. We’re investigating whether his recklessness led to the accident.”

Difficult terrains, poor conditions of roads and vehicles, and overloading are among the common causes of deadly traffic accidents in Nepal, which claim hundreds of lives each year.– NNN-XINHUA
