Civilian, Soldiers Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash In Australia’s Queensland

SYDNEY, Mac 1 (NNN-AAP) – One civilian and two soldiers were injured, in a two-vehicle crash near a military training area, in the Australian state of Queensland, local authorities said.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, paramedics were called to the crash site on Hervey Range Road, in Townsville, at about 5:56 p.m. local time yesterday.

The two people sustaining minor injuries were transported to a hospital by road, while the third person was airlifted in a serious condition with abdominal, chest, arm, and facial injuries, the authorities said, today.

A spokesperson from the Australian Department of Defence said, the accident occurred when the two soldiers were on the way back from a training activity in the Townsville Training Area.

“Three people sustained injuries as a result of the accident, including the two soldiers and a civilian. The two soldiers received non-life threatening injuries,” the spokesperson noted.

“Defence takes the safety of the Townsville community very seriously and takes safety precautions when using civilian roads. Defence will conduct a full investigation into causes of the accident,” the spokesperson added.– NNN-AAP
