LOS ANGELES, Feb 10 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) presented at the DGA Theater Complex – Los Angeles the strategy ‘Film in Peru,’ which aims to promote Peru internationally as a privileged destination for the filming of all types of audiovisual content.

This presentation followed the RoadShow Invest Peru 2024 in Pasadena – California held on Jan 31.

PromPeru’s Business Investment Promotion Director Daniel Cordova was in charge of presenting and reinforcing this strategy, which promotes Peru as a country for foreign investments related to the film or audiovisual industry in international markets.

Moreover, he highlighted the country as an attractive destination for the film industry, which offers a comprehensive experience through professional talent, diversity of destinations, and related services.

The meeting, which was attended by film and audiovisual industry agents (film studio executives, producers, location managers, specialized press, among others), also highlighted the active participation of PromPeru as a liaison office to provide support and guidance to national and international production companies.

Currently, the promoting entity is recognized by the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI).

It is worth mentioning that the Trade Office Abroad (OCEX Los Angeles), led by Conrado Falco, played an essential role in the development of this activity; and thanks to his efforts, the Peruvian delegation traveled to the studios in the Peru brand bus, touring the streets of the city of Los Angeles.

As part of the program, two successful cases of filming in Peru were presented. APU Productions Producer Bruno Canale presented his experience in the filming of the movie “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” (Paramount Pictures); while Tondero CEO Miguel Valladares did the same by relating the experience of filming the series “La Reina del Sur” Season 3 (Telemundo/Netflix).

Meetings were also held with film studios in the United States thanks to the support of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), where opportunities for filming in Peru were presented, strengthening ties and learning about possible future projects of these studios.

For this reason, the entity is currently participating in the “Executive Board for the promotion of Peru as a film location destination,” which seeks to promote the creation of the Peru Film Commission and establish economic incentives to increase the arrival of important international productions to the country.

In the last 5 years, ‘Film in Peru’ has provided support to more than 20 audiovisual productions, including the film Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” the series: “Andes Mágicos,” the film “Don’t Look Up,” the film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” the series “La Reina del Sur Temporada 3,” and the film “Paddington in Peru.” — NNN-ANDINA
