Sri Lankan Police Arrested Two For Operating Pyramid Scheme

COLOMBO, Jan 28 (NNN-XINHUA) – Sri Lanka’s police, yesterday, arrested a couple, on suspicion of defrauding people of 5 billion rupees (15.7 million U.S. dollars), through a pyramid scheme, said the police.

Police spokesman, Nihal Thalduwa told the media that, the two were arrested in Pilimathalawa of the country’s Central Province.

One of the suspects is a teacher, while the other is an actress, the police spokesman said.

The police urged people who have been defrauded by the suspects, to lodge complaints and assured that they would protect the anonymity of plaintiffs.– NNN-XINHUA
