KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (NNN-BERNAMA) – The Response and Relief Team of the Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia (IMARET), has set a target of least RM20,000 in contributions for the second phase of the “Funds for Gaza” initiative .

IMARET’s chief coordinator Dr Ahmad Munawwar Helmi Salim said the funds would be used to finance the purchase of fuel for electricity supply in Gaza’s public hospitals and to buy medical items.

He said the month-long donation drive that starts today is a collaboration between IMARET and the Gaza Health Ministry.

“The representative of the Gaza Health Ministry himself came to see our representative seeking assistance earlier this year.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the first phase of IMARET’s donation amounting to RM30,000 was sent in conjunction with the ‘Miles of Smiles’ mission last week,” he said.

Dr Ahmad Munawwar told this to Bernama after he appeared as a guest on the ‘Ruang Bicara’ programme produced by Bernama News Channel here tonight.

Contributions can be made to IMARET (Funds for Gaza) using CIMB account 8600 703 709 or call Dr Ahmad Munawwar at 013-9861898 for more information.
