HAVANA, Dec 13 (NNN-ACN) — Cuban Ministry of Interior ( MININT), during this 2023, seized 1,756.31 kilograms (kg) of illegal drugs, coming from 245 acts of recalo in the Cuban coasts, main supply route to the domestic market, said Juan Carlos Poey Guerra, head of the Anti-Drug Directorate of the Technical Directorate of Investigations (DTI).

In the informative TV program Mesa Redonda, Poey Guerra added that since the application of Plan Barrera, 19 cases were closed, with 33 arrests, 32.80 kg of drugs seized, among other captures.

He said that the forces of the Cuban Border Guard Troops, in cooperation with the 7th District of the U.S. Coast Guard, gave chase to a speedboat in full drug trafficking activity, which allowed the recovery of 340.7 kg of marijuana thrown into the sea, north of the eastern province of Holguin.

By air, 49 drug trafficking operations were blocked, the highest figure registered in the last five years, he added.

In these operations, 44.96 kg, 125 stamps of brolamfetamine were seized and 91 people were arrested, including 78 Cubans and 13 foreigners. — NNN-ACN
