Number Of Foreign Guests In Japanese Hotels Hit Record High In Oct

TOKYO, Dec 1 (NNN-NHK) – The number of foreign nationals who stayed at hotels and other accommodation facilities in Japan, amounted to a record 11.8 million in Oct, the highest ever for the month, government data showed, yesterday.

The figure went up 463 percent from a year earlier, and marked a 15-percent rise, compared to the same month in 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak, according to preliminary data, released by the Japan Tourism Agency.

As for Japanese guests, the Oct figure stood at 41.3 million, down 1.5 percent from a year earlier, the data showed.

The combined total of foreign and Japanese guests at hotels and inns in the month came to 53.1 million, up over 20 percent from the same time last year.– NNN-NHK
