Eight Injured As Train Catches Fire In India’s Uttar Pradesh

NEW DELHI, Nov 16 (NNN-PTI) – At least eight people have been injured, after four coaches of a passenger train caught fire, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, officials said.

The fire incident in Delhi-Darbhanga (Bihar state) special express, took place yesterday near Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh.

“This evening (last night), a fire broke out in the New Delhi-Darbhanga train, near the Sarai Bhopat railway station. Three coaches of the train were completely gutted, and the luggage coach was partially damaged,” an official said. “Also, eight people were injured in the incident, and they were admitted to the district hospital in Etawah.”

According to a senior police official in Etawah, Sanjay Kumar Verma, the fire has been completely doused.

Police have registered a case and ordered an investigation into the fire incident.– NNN-PTI
