Three Killed In Gold Mine Collapse In Myanmar

YANGON, Oct 7 (NNN-MNA) – Three people were killed, in the collapse of an abandoned gold mine, in central Myanmar’s Pyinmana township, yesterday, the country’s fire services department reported.

The fire services department said that, they received the report of the mine collapse at around 12:15 p.m. local time yesterday, and then launched a rescue operation together with other local rescue organisations, including the township red cross organisation.

The abandoned mine, which is located near Welgyi village in Pyinmana township of Nay Pyi Taw, collapsed while the victims were digging in the pit, it said.

All the victims are male, and they were sent to the Pyinmana hospital, an official from the Moe Setana rescue organisation said.

Two of the victims died on the spot, and the other one died at the hospital, he said.– NNN-MNA
