KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) — The UMW Group recorded strong automotive sales for August 2023 with the registration of 41,386 vehicles as both UMW Toyota Motor (“UMWT”) and UMW’s associate company, Perodua continue to deliver their outstanding orders. Accordingly, the Group’s automotive sales increased by 16% to 271,515 units for the first eight months of 2023, from the 233,367 units registered in the same period of 2022.
UMWT registered stronger monthly sales for the year with the delivery of 10,275 units in August 2023, 13% higher than the 9,091 units delivered in August 2022. Year-to-date August 2023, UMWT registered 67,283 units, recording a 9% growth compared with the 61,639 units registered in the corresponding period of 2022. Accordingly, UMWT achieved market share of 13.4% for YTD August 2023. The all-new Toyota Vios, Hilux and Corolla Cross were the top-selling models to-date. UMWT enhanced its product offerings in August with the introduction of improved 2023 Toyota Corolla as well as the Toyota Corolla GR Sport variant. It also unveiled the 2023 Lexus RX500h F Sport variant as well as the launch of the all-new Lexus RX350 in May 2023.
