NEW DELHI, Sept 13 (NNN-Bernama) — Torrential rains killed at least 28 people in India’s Uttar Pradesh state in two days.

Many districts, including the capital Lucknow, witnessed heavy rains over the past 48 hours, according to local media reports on Tuesday evening.

Schools were closed in some places on Monday and Tuesday as incessant rains caused flooding and disrupted road travel.

Bahraich, Barabanki and Goda are among the worst-hit areas.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed state officials to carry out relief work in rain-hit districts.
