Malaysia plane crash: police say only one body found intact

SHAH ALAM (Malaysia), Aug 17 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said among the victims of the light plane crash on an expressway near Shah Alam in the state of Selangor, Thursday afternoon, only the body of a motorcyclist was found intact.

He said there were no survivors in the crash involving the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) aircraft which claimed 10 lives, eight of whom were on board the aircraft and two road users.

“Only one victim was found full body…the motorcyclist has been identified and his family members have been contacted for the DNA verification process.

“Meanwhile, the identity of the car driver has not been identified, or whether he was a Grab (e-hailing) driver carrying passengers,” he told a press conference at the scene Thursday night.

Earlier, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said a Pahang state assemblyman Johari Harun was among those listed in the manifest of the ill-fated plane.

Also listed were the pilots, Shahrul Kamal Roslan and Heikal Aras Abdul Azim, as well as five other passengers namely Kharil Azwan Jamaludin, Shaharul Amir Omar, Mohd Naim Fawwaz Mohamed Muaidi, Muhammad Taufiq Mohd Zaki and Idris Abdol Talib.

The Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) light business jet aircraft was flying from Langkawi to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.

Meanwhile, Selangor Police Chief Omar Khan said the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has recovered the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) of the aircraft.

The AAIB team had taken the CVR, which is a component of the black box, to the laboratory for analysis, he said.

“The black box has two components, namely the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and the CVR. The FDR has yet to be found,” he said.
