BOGOTA, July 16 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Colombian Government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) announced on Saturday nine new Protocols agreed upon for the fulfillment of the Process of Participation of Society in the Construction of Peace and the Bilateral, National and Temporary Ceasefire (CFBNT).

In a statement released by the ELN delegation, both sides agreed in Havana on the role of the Peace Dialogue Table in the fulfillment of the CFBNT Agreement.

Both sides also defined the role of the Catholic Church in the monitoring; the social oversight and humanitarian protection mechanisms in the framework of the ceasefire Agreement; the evaluation, extension or suspension of CFBNT Agreement, as well as the security and protection for the verification mechanism members.

Likewise, the Colombian Government and the ELN agreed upon the security protocol for the guerrilla and places where it is present in the framework of the ceasefire agreement; communications, pedagogy of the CFBNT agreement and its protocols.

The sides also agreed and signed the glossary that sets forth the common conceptual understandings on the ceasefire.

Full compliance with the commitments assumed in the bilateral ceasefire are a concrete contribution to the realization of the electoral process that will end with the territorial voting on October 29, 2023.

Both parties thanked the Cuban people and Government for hosting the work of the Permanent Table of Peace Dialogues during these last weeks, as well as the presence of guarantor and permanent accompanying countries; and the Group of Support, Accompaniment and Cooperation countries. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
