IQUITOS (Loreto region, Peru), June 9 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte affirmed that the Government is firmly and clearly resolved to work for an integrated, sustainable, and inclusive development of the Amazon.

Moreover, she remarked that the Government must move towards an integrated management of the Amazon territory, prioritizing indigenous areas, and providing basic services such as potable water and sanitation.

“Today I come with a message, as well as a firm and clear decision: to work for an integrated, sustainable, and inclusive development of the Amazon, making decisions with local authorities, grassroots organizations, entrepreneurs, and its peoples, as well as summoning efforts and wills, to work together for this region,” she said.

Boluarte made these remarks at the inauguration of the Fourth Congress of Amazon Entrepreneurs: For Sustainable Development and Inclusion of the Amazon to 2050.

The country’s top official assured that the Amazon is a vast region that contributes a lot to Peru; however, it still demands effective attention from the State, institutions, and authorities.

In this regard, she explained that the Fourth Congress of Amazon Entrepreneurs provides an opportunity for the three levels of Government, plus public-private sectors and international cooperation, to address the Amazon’s complex agenda and challenges.

The President emphasized that this territory represents enormous potential for the country, since Peru has the second-largest area of Amazonian forest, which is home to 12% of the population.

Furthermore, 44 indigenous languages are spoken in the Peruvian Amazon alone, which is made up of 51 indigenous peoples. — NNN-ANDINA
