With this decree, migrants will be able to regularize their temporary stay in the country by complying with the rest of the procedures and requirements established in the Migration and immigration Laws.

The measure is intended to decrease the number of irregular migrants in some land immigration stations such as Danlí and Trojes in the province of El Paraíso, bordering Nicaragua.

According to official figures, foreigners who mostly cross the country in search of the American dream had to pay up to US$200 as a penalty.

Congressmen highlighted the importance of the migratory amnesty, as it also supports the less privileged, those who are in transit through this Central American country and Hondurans themselves. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
