Tunisia, Italy vow to fight illegal immigration

TUNIS, June 1 (NNN-XINHUA) — Tunisia and Italy are willing to continue to cooperate in the fight against illegal immigration in the Mediterranean region and develop a common approach in this regard, reported the official Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) on Wednesday.

The consensus was reached between Tunisian Parliament Speaker Ibrahim Bouderbala and Italian Ambassador to Tunisia Fabrizio Saggio during their meeting held in the parliament’s headquarters in Tunis.

Bouderbala noted that “the geographical proximity, the cultural resemblance as well as the position of the two countries in the Mediterranean region constitute a favorable ground for strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.”

Bouderbala also highlighted Tunisia’s intention to develop relations between the two parliaments.

For his part, Saggio said Italy attached importance to its ties with Tunisia, and is willing to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in trade and energy. — NNN-XINHUA
